Opinion: The 2016 Election



The Beginning of the End

Perhaps no presidential election in our lifetime, has been more contentious and divisive as the one now taking shape for 2016.

Both of the two major parties have never produced such weak and questionable candidates for the highest office in the land as they have with such less than illustrious candidates in the persons of Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders, and Donald Trump.

With a population of over 300,000,000 people, one would hope that a nation of this size could somehow produce a crop of candidates that the nation as a whole could place some trust in.

Instead we have forced upon us a group of people as candidates who would be much better suited to be on a wanted poster than a campaign flyer.

We have a candidate in Hillary Clinton whose main objectives are that she should be elected because she would be the first woman elected president, or because she feels that it is her “turn” to sit behind the desk in the Oval Office. No one’s qualifications for president should be predicated by gender or the misguided notion that it is somehow their “turn” to hold that office. Ones “turn” at something is usually relegated to games and not in the real life world of politics where the determining factors should be ability, experience, and character. Anything less is detrimental to that office and is most definitely detrimental to the nation as a whole.

Then we have a candidate in Bernie Sanders who generally always voted with the Democrat Party during his tenure in Washington, ran as an Independent, and is a self avowed Socialist. That is until he decided to run for President as a Democratic candidate. A man, who like most of his followers, does not have an understanding of the most basic economics, yet he, and especially his followers stop their critical thinking when they hear the words “free”, and either ignore or don’t care that the “free” he promises would only lead to economic slavery to taxes and government dependance for us, our children, and our grandchildren.

Last, but not least, we have a candidate in Donald Trump who is willing to say anything and do anything to get elected to the office of President of the United States. A man who can blatantly denigrate minorities, women, and the disabled, and get away with it. A man who talks in a loud, arrogant braggadocio, and gives his supporters his policies in such general, shallow terms, that even he doesn’t know what his policies and plans are. Indeed, when he is questioned about those policies, like the quintessential politician his answers ramble in a broad expanse of nothingness that never reveals just what his ideas are. Thus leaving one to come to the conclusion that all he has are general talking points, and hasn’t given his own vague, vapid statements any real thought. Yet his supporters will laugh, applaud and cheer, and with their mob mentality defend with their dying breaths the glaringly obvious shortcomings of their chosen one, even when those shortcomings and actions should alarm even the most dim witted amongst us.

There was once a time in this country of ours, when those we elected to the office of President, were statesmen...leaders…moral...those in whom we placed our trust and believed that whatever they did they did because they thought it best for us, and our country. People who led by example, and not people who make a mockery of everything that is good, noble, and decent like today’s leaders.

Now all we can see is that statesmanship is dead. Like the Roman Empire before us, we have leaders who place themselves above the good of the United States and all Americans. Leaders who are characters instead of having character. Leaders who throw off all semblance of morality and fairness, because morality and fairness don’t matter to Americans anymore. Americans don’t want morality and fairness. They want lies and half-truths. They want all that they can get and future generations be damned.

Is this what we want? Is this what we want for our children and our grandchildren, and their children after them? Is this what America has become?

If They Had Any Guts, All US Papers Would Publish Muhammad Cartoons

The terrorists won today.

That was the message Wednesday from retired Lt. Col. Ralph Peters when he appeared on Fox News' "America's News Room."

"It's a terrible morning. It's a bad morning for press freedom, for freedom of information," he said. "It's bad because the terrorists won. The terrorists won this morning."

Peters fears publications will limit their own freedom because of this attack.

...Peters chastised other publications for not having the courage to publish the cartoons of the prophet Muhammed like the French magazine did.

"It was the bravest publication I know. There is not a single magazine in the English-speaking world that had the guts, the courage, to take on Islamist fanaticism and mock these fanatics the way Charlie Hebdo is," he said.

"The correct response to this attack, by all of us in journalism, we pretend to be so brave, if we had guts," Peters said. "Those cartoons would be reprinted on the front page of the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, the Washington Post, the Los Angeles Times tomorrow. They won't be."

Peters also criticized the Western world as too weak to deal with radical Islam and said our political correctness may lead to our destruction.

OPINION: Greed and the Holidays

So once again I keep seeing the lists of stores that will be "open" on Thanksgiving Day. They will be open with their "specials" beginning for the Christmas shopping season..

What they don't bother saying is, they really won't be waiting until 6...7....or 8 Thanksgiving evening to "open". Nope, far from it. They will have been open the whole live long day, especially the 24-hour "super stores" where they doze, but never close...except maybe on Christmas Day... but the number of businesses closed even then continues to shrink.

What they really mean is, that they must fulfill their greed for the almighty dollar in order to satisfy their shoppers greed for things. For stuff. For the latest in electronics...games...videos...the newest toy fad.

Yes, they will be there to collect their millions...maybe even billions...from people who just have to make sure that junior has the latest trend...so that they can "keep up" with their neighbors.

Forget about being thankful for health...for life...for what we already have and for who we are. Don't worry about being thankful for family, loved ones, and friends. Don't worry about being thankful for any of that. You have all kinds of time to be thankful for all of those things.

You can always spend time with family and friends later. Unless you are an employee of those businesses...both large and small... where the company bottom line is much more important than you or your family and friends. The company must be sure to get their nickel so someone else doesn't get it instead.

Yes, you can be thankful after the shopping season is over and done with. Then you can contribute to the company bottom line once again by having your hours cut...or even being laid off until spring. Don't you feel thankful?

It makes me feel as though none of these businesses that insist on feeding their lust for wealth...have never read "A Christmas Carol" by Charles Dickens.

If they have read it, then surely the lesson was lost on them. For when greed is the primary...the most motivating factor....then sooner or later, that greed will lead to your own isolation, and your own loss.

Rest assured though. You won't have a ghost from Christmas past, present, or future showing up to lead you away from ruin.

Then again, all that matters to them and their stockholders is the bottom line, right? People are just another commodity that can be taken and discarded at a whim.

So, rest assured, even though I have to work on Thanksgiving Day for part of the day, I will not be contributing to anyone else having to work by shopping at any store, large or small.


And you can take that to the bank!

Wake Up America



This is my opinion, and to those who don't agree with me or don't like it...too bad.

In my 59 years, I have seen a lot of politicians come and go. Some were good people who placed their country or their constituents before themselves. Others were only out for themselves and made it apparent.

In Barack Obama, we now have as President a man who is the most egotistical and incompetent excuse for a leader I have ever seen. If he is not incompetent, then he most surely is evil.

His administration is more corrupt, dirty, and underhanded than any I have seen. They make the Watergate burglars look like a bunch of choir boys. They don't even do a good job of hiding their corruption, and with a compliant media, they don't even have to try to hide their underhanded actions in the dark. They do them in broad daylight without fear of opposition from a media that is as corrupt as they themselves.

I am tired of his tendency to golf while America burns. I am tired of his turning his back on our allies, and embracing our enemies. I am tired of his unlawfully imposing his will on America's religious organizations, institutions... our corporations and companies as well as individual Americans. I am tired of his ignoring and placing no value on the men and women heroes of this country who have served faithfully to protect and defend America. I am tired of his ignoring the sovereignty of our nation by allowing thousands upon thousands of illegal immigrants and "undocumented workers"to mount an invasion of this nation. I am tired of his ignoring the plight of Christians and other minorities from the Islamic barbarians around the world.

We as a people can not allow this brazen undermining of our country to continue. The Obama administration and his party's majority in the Senate must be stopped and held to account at all costs. I urge each and every person who can vote to get up off your duff, and vote to send a message to Barack Obama and his cohorts in the Senate and the media. It is time to show them that the American people are mad as he**, and we aren't going to take it any more!

  • For the worst half of a decade, liberals were either urging us to give the UN inspectors more time in Iraq or demanding to know "Where are the WMDs?" once the war had begun.
  • The common consensus was Syria; a fellow Baathist regime that also served as the pipeline for the majority of suicide bombers aimed at American soldiers. But that answer was met with ridicule and contempt from the questioners.
  • Liberals had found their killer talking point and they were not about to let it go. Not until now.

Some gays distance themselves from campaign supporting lesbian teen accused of statutory rape | LifeSiteNews.com

  • Hunt has become a martyr of sorts for homosexual activists nationwide, who have plastered social media with personal pleas and links to a “Free Kate” website and Facebook group started by Hunt’s parents, who claim their daughter’s arrest was motivated by ‘homophobia’ on the part of the victim’s parents.
  • So far over 300,000 people have signed a petition in favor of Kate on Change.org.
  • But a local chapter of Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG) has released a statement denouncing the Free Kate movement.

N.C. Governor Proposes Closing State Trooper Dispatch Office In Asheville

Attention all who live or travel in Western North Carolina. North Carolina Governor Pat McRory has proposed closing dispatch offices of the North Carolina State Troopers (Highway Patrol), including the dispatch office on Tunnel Road in Asheville. The dispatching of state troopers for Western North Carolina would then come from Hickory, North Carolina. This can result in dangerous and potentially life threatening situations for travellers due to the inevitable delays in dispatching state troopers throughout the western part of the state.

Please contact your representatives in the state house and senate, by either email or telephone, and tell them you oppose the closing of the Asheville dispatch office of the North Carolina State Troopers. From The Dignitatis Humanae Institute: West responds with indifference as rioters murder Egyptian Christians in their own Cathedral

Rome, 12 April 2013

Following the deadliest sectarian violence seen in months, the Coptic Pope, Tawadros II, has publically decried the record of President Morsi and his Egyptian government for failing to safeguard Christian communities from repeated hate attacks.

Tawadros II comments came after two incidents in Cairo saw at least five Christians murdered and up to a hundred injured. Funeral mourners at St Mark's Coptic Cathedral were set upon as they tried to leave the Church grounds, attacked with weapons ranging from stones to molotov cocktails and automatic firearms. It took security forces five hours to arrive on the scene, and only after the bloodshed had occurred.

The public rebuke from Tawadros II, the first directly attacking President Morsi, demonstrates the despair with the lack of political will, domestic and international, to recognise the gravity of these repeated persecutions and to take the necessary steps to safeguard Christian communities. Instead, the ruling Muslim Brotherhood has demonstrated a casual indifference towards the plight of the 8 million citizens that make up the Christian community of Egypt.

Christians have long been a persecuted minority in Egypt, yet what little protections that existed under the previous regime have now been swept aside by mob rule and unchecked spates of violence. Such a drift has been seen across the Mena region, with the initial optimism of the Arab Spring now giving way to a Christian Winter. Instead of emerging democracies, the domestic upheaval has led to a resurgence of Salafist fundamentalism. Increasingly, Christian people in predominantly Muslim nations are being harassed and terrorised to the point of seeking emigration.

In support of Tawadros II remarks, Lord Alton, Honorary President of the British Coptic Association and Chairman of the Cross-Party Working Group on Human Dignity, stated:

"When Mohamed Morsi was first elected, after 29 years of Mubarak's dictatorial rule, he was entrusted with a unique and brief opportunity to overturn a history of religious discrimination in Egypt; and indeed he pledged to do so.

As Pope Tawadros II has stated today, the negligence of the Egyptian government demands actions not more words. Any further financial aid to Egypt should be contingent on a notable increase in the state protection afforded to the Christian minority. The international community cannot continue bankrolling President Morsi whilst remaining indifferent to the failings of his government in its primary purpose, to protect its people from harm."    

The Dignitatis Humanae Institute aims to uphold human dignity based on the anthropological truth that man is born in the image and likeness of God and therefore has an innate human dignity of infinite worth to be upheld. The Institute promotes this understanding by supporting Christians in public life, assisting them to present effective and coherent responses to increasing efforts to silence the Christian voice in the public square.

Opinion: Stop Blaming the Conservatives


So, the election is well past over. Mitt Romney lost. Barack Obama won a second term much to the chagrin of many.

Most conservatives...the real ones at least...were not surprised. I had many people get angry with me back in the spring, because I said the only difference between Mitt Romney and John McCain, was that Romney had more money, a better wardrobe, and better hair. One lady got extremely upset with me when I said that Mitt Romney looked more like one of the male models for the box front of a mens hair coloring product than a presidential candidate.

Some people have no sense of humor.

I had people who were even more incensed when I said on Facebook back last April or May, that Mitt Romney could not beat Obama. A few I am sure, unfriended me because of that observation.

When I made my post supporting Rick Santorum for the Republican nomination back on January 31, of this year, one of the things that I said was this:

I have watched as the mainstream media has worked overtime in trying to tell us who the best nominee would be, when we all know where their loyalties apparently lie. They hope to convince the people that they know better than the people who the people's best choice would be.

Yes, the mainstream media kept proclaiming Romney the “nominee” in essence if not in fact at the time. One would have thought then, that if people who watched the 2008 race had remotely been paying attention at all, they would have recalled that this same mainstream media was building up John McCain as the nominee. And guess what? Both men the mainstream media hyped as the nominee, lost.

Here's a clue for you. If the mainstream media is continuously pointing someone out as the frontrunner...as the heir apparent... it is because they are hoping that there are still enough people out there who will buy it, and because there are some people...many people I believe... who want to have voted for the “perceived winner”, and then they will vote for the guy who is actually the worst candidate available.

The worst part of this is, that the GOP bought it themselves. Again. Hook, line, and sinker. Especially sinker.

Then they had Karl Rove, Ann Coulter and others going on every news show, every radio talk show they could get on, leading the cheers for Romney. Newt Gingrich was not liked they said....Rick Santorum was too far right on social issues they said...Herman Cain was inexperienced in public office they said...Michelle Bachmann was too extreme they said...and on and on and on.

The GOP now wants to point fingers at the conservative base...the natural marriage people....the pro-life people....the pro-Constitution people...the conservatives who make up the heart of the GOP and blame us for Romney losing. They said we stayed at home....that we voted third party...we didn't support Romney enough. They are ready to throw us under the bus...and then back the bus up, and run over us again.

We have John McCain going on television, and saying if we have pro-life views, it is OK to have them, but we should keep “quiet” about it. Mr. McCain should be the one keeping quiet as he has already shown he doesn't know how to win a presidential race, and shouldn't be telling us to “keep quiet”.

Yes Mr. McCain, the economy is important...but so are the social issues and they need to be expressed and not ignored like Mr. Romney chose to ignore them.

The GOP needs to learn something that is apparent to everyone outside of the “inside” political circles. The mainstream media does not like Republicans. They never have in my lifetime and they never will. So stop getting excited if they are lauding your “moderate candidate”. No moderate candidate can or will win the presidency. That's why they are lauding them. Until the election starts that is, and then they will turn on you.

And if you want the GOP to remain a viable, electable party, stop blaming the Tea Party...stop blaming the pro-lifers....stop blaming the social and fiscal conservatives because we are the GOP. If you keep giving us McCain's and Romney's for candidates...and keep giving us the blame for your major screw-ups, there won't be a GOP.

Frmr Regional Security Officer Nordstrom: 'The Taliban is on the Inside ...

One would have to be a complete and total moron to believe that the attack on the U.S. mission in Libya was caused by a video. Especially in light of those attacks having occurred on the anniversary of 9/11.

The administration of President Obama must take total responsibility for the attack and the resultant deaths of 4 Americans, including  that of U.S. Ambassador Stevens. Using the death of Osama bin Laden as campaign fodder, was totally irresponsible, and the repeated bragging about his death by Obama and Vice President Joe Biden was bound to inflame terrorist organizations, and is more likely to have brought on the attacks than any video did.

According to a report on Fox News, "the U.S. mission in Libya recorded 230 "security incidents" over a one-year period between 2011 and 2012, according to a State Department document that provides the most expansive view yet of the concerns on the ground in the run-up to the deadly Sept. 11 consulate attack."

If there was that large a number of attacks on the U.S. mission in Libya, then denial of additional security was at the height of arrogance and stupidity of the State Department and this administration. How can we rely on this administration to adequately protect and defend the United States, Americans, and American interests around the world?

Obviously we can't. So the only answer is that Mr. Obama must go.

In today's hearing from the Oversight Committee,  Eric Nordstrom, former Regional Security Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Libya said this at the end of his testimony, in response to how frustrated he was at being denied security in Libya: “For me, the Taliban is on the inside of the building.” (See video below.)

ABC News Reporting Unprofessional

ABC News has once again proven itself to be the epitome of irresponsible "reporting". It is unconscionable that any self-proclaimed "journalist" would attempt to turn the senseless tragedy in Aurora, Colorado into a political opportunity by the careless and unprofessional actions of Bryan Ross. With his incorrect on air assertion that the shooter had joined the Colorado Tea Party last year, the innocent 52 year old man who had actually joined the Tea Party was therefore identified by ABC News as being the shooter. By failing to properly follow up on his so-called "research", Mr. Ross's incompetent actions could have endangered the innocent man and his family, and most certainly lends further credence to the image of ABC News as being far from reliable or credible.

We Are America



Being a freedom loving American isn't about being Republican or Democrat. It isn't about being black, white, yellow, red, or brown. It isn't about being Catholic, Protestant, Jewish, or Muslim. It isn't about being rich, middle class, or poor. 

It is about believing "that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness". It is about believing in the "government of the people, by the people, for the people". 

It is about our love, appreciation, and respect for those brave men and women who gave their time, their honor, their bodies, and their lives so that we can continue to be a freedom loving people, like Americans of yesterday, today, and tomorrow. 

It is about standing up to defend our country, and the helpless members of our society, from anyone or anything that threatens the lives and the liberties that this nation has cherished and protected for so many generations. It is about all of us standing up, and saying for all to hear, that WE are America, and that we will protect our nation as all the generations before us, and that we will never go quietly into that dark night.

Romney Backer Disses Southern Voters



David Frum (contributing editor to Daily Beast/Newsweek, and CNN contributor), a Mitt Romney backer, had a conniption fit (which is far worse than a hissy fit) over Rick Santorum's victories in Mississippi and Alabama. Apparently from his tweets on twitter, Mr. Frum doesn't think very highly of southern voters who are evangelicals and live in rural areas. In fact, Mr. Frum doesn't seem to think too highly of rural voters at all.

Below are a few of his tweets from twitter which he sent out after Rick Santorum had been declared the winner in both Mississippi and Alabama:

Question for Republican primary voters: do you think rural Mississippi looks like America?

So apparently in Mr. Frum's view, evangelical, southern, rural voters don't have enough common sense to know what's good for us. He also says that rural Mississippi, and I would guess rural anywhere else doesn't “look like America”, which is atypical thinking of those who live in the Washington, D.C. Beltway, as Mr. Frum does. It also seems to be the thinking of main stream media types in the larger metropolitan areas as well. They think that the metro areas are America and that the rest of us are “fringe Americans” who really don't count.

I would like to tell Mr. Frum, that many southerners were insulted and felt they were being mocked by Mitt Romney's dissing of our speech with his “y'all” and his pretending to love cheese grits. We may love our cheese grits but we don't like cheesy politicians who flip-flop like a fish stranded on a river bank.

We see Mitt Romney for what he is, Mr. Frum. And that is the 2012 version of John McCain. The only difference being that Mitt Romney has better hair, a better wardrobe, and more money. Although he might possibly be better at flip-flopping than McCain was.

So we will vote for who we think the best man is for us, and for the United States of America. For me, that man Mr. Frum is Rick Santorum. And remember this...if Mitt Romney can't win the south now he can not win it in November either.

And if you, and your other Romney backers in the media don't like it...that's just too bad!

Romney's Biggest Hope To Beat Santorum--Newt Gingrich



I saw the following on the CBS News web site:
  • Billionaire casino magnate Sheldon Adelson plans to give another $10 million to the outside group backing the former Georgia lawmaker who is running behind former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum in the race for the Republican presidential nomination, a source close to Adelson told CBS News.

So billionaire casino magnate Sheldon Adelson is planning to give a $10 million dollar donation to the Super PAC supporting Newt. Why? Because in the minds of many, Newt being still in the race is good for Romney, and is taking away from Santorum. Especially as "Winning our Future", the PAC that supposrts Gingrich, is the same Super PAC that flooded the air waves in South Carolina, the only state that Newt has won. 

So, although Newt has no chance to win the nomination, he will be helping Romney (in theory) by proxy, and no doubt make the Republican establishment breathe a sigh of relief. Their hope is that Newt can generate just enough enthusiasm to prevent a Rick Santorum  super surge that might just run away with big wins in the upcoming primaries and on Super Tuesday.

At least that is what I suspect the Romney campaign and the RNC (who is embarassed by conservatives and the Tea Party) are hoping for.

Don't count on it boys. The truth is, Newt's flavor of the week momentum has come and gone, and his campaign is just about ready for the defibrillator. In other words, it's just too late.

Rick Santorum has grabbed the momentum from the remaining candidates, and has also grabbed the attention of the conservative voters. So no matter how the Romney campaign... the Obama campaign... or any super PAC tries to paint him... the average conservative voter connects with Rick and his message, and they are sick and tired of the negative attack ads and media attacks being thrown at the Santorum campaign.

In essence, the attack ads will backfire, rallying the people to give Rick Santorum the additional votes and impetus he needs to successfully obtain the Republican party nomination for President of the United States.

Just sayin'.

What the United States did in hosting the Istanbul Process was unprecedented since the founding of the United Nations. Namely, they gave the OIC political legitimacy in its desire to silence any voice, including the voice of good Muslim scholars, from criticizing Islam or its tenets. Now Europe is chomping at the bit to host the next convention.

Make no mistake about it. What the OIC is aspiring to accomplish both in Europe and in America is to muzzle the few brave politicians and diplomats who are objecting to the Islamic refusal to integrate into both continents. Indeed, they are asking for Muslims and Islam to be given a privileged position.

As a boy attending government schools in Egypt, we were taught openly and unequivocally, by Muslim teachers, that Islam spreads throughout the world by the sword. However, Islamic expansion could also be fueled in other ways—as indeed we see today.
