The Obama administration approved 204 new waivers to Democrats' healthcare reform law in April, bringing the total to 1,372.
Of that total, almost 20% went to the Northern California district that is represented by Nancy Pelosi. The 38 waivers granted in Pelosi's district are for fancy restaurants, nightclubs, expensive hotels, spas and other businesses.
For instance, the Daily Caller reports:
- "Boboquivari’s restaurant in Pelosi’s district in San Francisco got a waiver from Obamacare. Boboquivari’s advertises $59 porterhouse steaks, $39 filet mignons and $35 crab dinners."
It wasn't just Pelosi's district that received the waivers however. Companies, labor unions, and about two dozen states have applied for and been granted waivers to a provision of the law that says health policies must provide at least $750,000 a year in protection.
Also, Obamacare rules apparently carry an exemption for Medicare supplemental insurance policies. AARP, a big supporter of Obamacare that spent millions in support of the act, received a waiver. I guess it didn't hurt for AARP to be the top marketer of Medicare supplemental policies, especially when they make around $1 billion in profits from these Medigap policies.
Isn't it a bit strange how all of these labor unions, companies, and organizations that supported Obamacare, are getting the waivers because they can't afford it?
Proof that Obamacare needs to be repealed, and repealed now.
